in the makings

Oh am I suppose to be working on that list to the right??? :x

Honestly, I have done some but yes, I've also started a few other projects. ^^ I couldn't resist ordering some wool for me when I ordered the colours I wanted for the afghan I'm making for a special present. I just loved this cardigan. I found it on ravelry and as the office where I got my new job is quite a bit cooler than the outside temperature, I'm wanting nice-ish warm clothes sooner. (Last day of summer tomorrow!) I had quite a time trying to decide what colour to make it. So many nice ones. I was going to make a light grey coz it would go with lots in my wardrobe but at the last minute I changed my mind. (I'd like a grey cardigan but grey is an easy colour to find in the shops.) So I ordered BWMs Rustic in Damson 8ply. So lovely. It looks plain purple in the photo but it has flecks of blue through it.

I got a big parcel of wool on Friday and had to start first chance I got. Excitement is a great motivator. I've already done from the neck to underarms and am now working on the body. It's sitting a little funny but hopefully with some blocking and edging it will be most satisfactory.

I also bought some more cheap yarn today to go with my Norweigan slippers I'm making. I'd started a while ago but stopped as I wasn't going to have enough yarn and the one I was using was an old one from my stash that I can't find anymore. Today I found some pure soft nylon to go with it (nylon for the hard wearing the slippers will get this winter and beyond).

And I'm almost finished another amigurumi (I put the lion on hold as he's not quite turning out like I'd envisioned). But I shall save this new one as a surprise as he's very nearly done.

I have plenty of projects to keep me going for months now. Though I'm sure I'll start more yet. I do have the afghan waiting...with a time limit.

chuffed about the cuff

Look Look! See what I've successfully completed!! Last night I finished off the cuff section on my snapdragon flip-tops. And I'm chuffed! He he. From never having done cable to this (jumping straight in the deep end) I think I've done pretty well. There's only one mistake that I can see that I didn't TINK back to. It was like 7 rows back when I discovered it. Anyway, it took me a while of searching to actually find it last night so I don' t think it's that bad. Now I can move on to the hand section and decipher the next lot of instructions.

shades of delight

Happiness came in the mail today! ^^ I asked for some shade cards from the Bendigo Woollen Mills and they sent me these. Glorious colours in lovely wool, cotton and alpaca. Now I can choose colours for the huge project I have in mind...and a medium project for me too. He he. But oh how the mind buzzes with ideas and potential at the sight of these.

progress

February is here and the year is on. All my jobs are on the go again and I'm still searching for that one that will allow me to cut back to three jobs. I've been filling lots of my spare time daring to knit the challenging Snapdragon Flip-Tops!! There's lots of stitches involved that I've never done before. I've never cabled before but I am! And it's looking good. Bonus!
It's been a tricky juggle using a knitting needle for a cable needle but I was managing and progressing nicely with not too many hiccups.
Don't you think it's looking good? Coming along well and I'm liking the colours muchly. I had to change the starting point at one stage so I decided to create a stitch marker. I found a cute necklace I've had a long time and basically took the pendant off and attached it straight to the clasp. It works lovely and looks cute. I haven't worn the necklace in years but I keep it coz it's the perfect "best friends" necklace. You see, I have two best friends. One of them bought these for us. Obviously I have the "Best" one and they have "Friends" and "Forever". I think they are hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil monkeys too. Cute. And they remind me of my very dear friends whom I've known for close to two decades! So now it's in use again as my stitch marker hanging on something I find joy in doing.
And here's my current progress. I worked on both of these this afternoon. My second sock is coming along well too. Just knitting on down to the heel. I've gotta keep on it or May will be upon me before I can get to the toes. And the snapdragon's progressed too. It slowed down to about two rounds in 1.5 hrs when I kept ending on the wrong stitch and had to find my mistake, tink on back and re-knit. Urgh. But it's staying as it should and looking right AND I managed to do four rounds today. I'm quite proud of my effort so far and I'm over half way through the cuff pattern. Oh, and you can also see that I got myself a cable needle. It's quite a bit easier than a long knitting needle. ^^
